Light Green Machines, LLC (LGM) is a research and development, organization headquartered in Ithaca, NY specializing in composite chassis design, development, and manufacturing as well as overall vehicle design. LGM is in the early stages of commercialization, and exploring funding options.
History of LGM
LGM came to fruition through a research project at a university on the west coast. A grant from the US Department of Transportation was obtained to enable material testing and prove feasibility of a fully composite chassis for small bus-type vehicles. Initial research and development efforts proved successful, and a proof of concept chassis was fabricated from traditional glass reinforced and carbon fiber reinforced plastics. Vehicle design optimization and materials research continues with a heavy focus on biocomposites using natural fiber reinforcement. The research and design team is focused on completing a proof of concept hybrid electric small bus in the summer of 2022, with the support of a NYSERDA cost sharing grant.
